[Previous entry] [Main Index] [Next entry] 12/14/2004 Entry: "APWU KIDS CHRISTMAS PARTY 2004" Posted by Gail NohrThe APWU Kid’s Christmas Party was held at Stan’s Labor Temple again this year, as has been ever since it started. For those of you who didn’t know, Stan’s is located on 1570 Elizabeth Street on the East side of Green Bay, one street North of Cofrin Drive. IT IS THE SAME PLACE WHERE WE HAVE OUR UNION MEETINGS EACH MONTH! Anyway, the party was great fun again this year. We started at noon with Christmas Bingo until each child won two bingo prizes. Then, Mrs. Clause, A.K.A., Cindy Peterson, read a few Christmas stories to the kids until Santa, A.K.A., Norbert Van Pay arrived with bags full of wrapped presents for each child. The presents were purchased and wrapped by Sharon Duescher and her mother again this year. After their visit with Santa and Mrs. Clause, each child’s picture was taken by George Dowling with a 35mm and Bryce Thomas with a digital camera. The 35mm’s were placed in the break-room for people to take. Thanks to Bryce and Jeff Hackl, the digitals will be on the Local’s Website at WWW.NEWAL.ORG for everyone to view. Thanks also to Steve Fostner who drew up the posters to advertise the party for us again this year. Each child was able to make a Christmas wreath ornament to take home thanks to Ashley and Vickie Bongers. A jubilant Alan Thomas guessed the correct number of Christmas M & M’s in the jar. The 10 poinsettias were won by George Dowling, Jody Bertrand, Bernie Haen, Donna VandenBush, Dave Kroll, Lori Sullivan, Ginger Lepp, Heather Hopfensberg, Barb Glaser and Bryce Thomas. The APWU purchased the meat and cheese trays, rolls, water and juice. All the rest of the great food was donated by the following members: Lori Sullivan, George Dowling, Donna VandenBush, Dave Kroll, Arlyn Wilinsky, Ginger Lepp, Barb Glaser, Heather Hopfensperger, Bernie Haen, Jim Francois, Terry Wentworth, Jody Bertrand, Shirley Schuessler, Dan Stoddard, Dave Kudick, Cindy Peterson, Vickie Bongers and Gail Nohr. Shirley also donated the star for the tree. Our helpers this year were Taylor VandenBush, Josh Cisler, Hillary Wentworth, Ashley Bongers and Colin Nohr. They helped with setting up the tree, presents, craft area and clean up. We would also like to thank Terry Wentworth for helping us set up and take down. There were 34 children and 64 parents in attendance. Thanks again for a great turn out. We hope you had a wonderful Holiday and have an even better New Year.
Replies: 1 Comment I would just like to thank Vickie, Gail and every one else that made the Christmas party possible. Again, due to their hard work it was success and a lot of fun for all. I hope I speak for us all in the Local when I say how much your hard work is appreciated each year.
Thanks for a wonderful Christmas party.
