Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) today, in a letter to Senators Trent Lott (R-MS) and Chris Dodd (D-CT), the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, urged them to support efforts to encourage the U.S. Senate to purchase more American-made goods. The Senate Committee on Rules and Administration is responsible for overseeing the purchases made by the U.S. Senate. [more]

NEW HEALTH BENEFIT PREMIUMS (Going up) [No Comments]

The Washington Post and Federal Times report that premiums in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program will increase 10.6 percent on average in January, according to the Office of Personnel Management. The articles said the biweekly increase for Postal Service employees will be $3.13 for individual coverage and $6.53 for family coverage on average. OPM said the increase is less than what many public and private-sector employees are facing.

USPS 2004 FINANCIAL PLAN [No Comments]

Modest mail volume growth and continuing cost reductions

Mail volume is expected to grow by 1.3% in Fiscal Year 2004, though USPS revenue is expected to remain flat, according to remarks made by Chief Financial Officer Richard Strasser at yesterday's Board of Governors meeting.

FEINGOLD REITERATES OPPOSITION TO ADMINISTRATION'S PROPOSAL TO DENY OVERTIME TO MILLIONS OF AMERICANS [No Comments]

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Russ Feingold today renewed his call for the Bush administration to halt finalization of a proposed rule that could deny millions of American workers badly needed overtime pay.
